When vacationing with family, it can often be hard to find an activity that all ages will enjoy, but during your journey to Cape Cod, you will discover the opposite is true. Spending days at the beach, swimming, floating, and building sandcastles at water’s edge, riding bikes along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and participating in local events are a few examples of the fun you can have with a family. We at Pretty Picky Properties know, however, that you have probably already planned on doing all of the above, but we can bet that you never considered clamming as a family friendly activity! This guide to our vacation rentals that come with the necessary tools for this activity will give you a peek into a new adventure that provides a very delicious ending.
Book Places to Stay on Cape Cod Below
Everything You Need
Packing for vacation can be stressful as you try to anticipate your family’s needs in every circumstance. Should you pack enough jeans for every day of the week? Will it rain, and do you need umbrellas? What about board games? Your family loves to get together and play Monopoly or Scrabble on lazy evening, but those boxes can really take up space in your luggage. Fortunately, vacationing is our business at Pretty Picky Properties, and after a few years in the game, we have learned how to help our guests whittle down their packing while providing new adventures in comfort and fun. Every one of our Cape Cod places to stay is filled with all the stuff you may have not even realized you needed, and although we can’t remember to pack your socks, we can and do provide washers and dryers that will help take up the slack and leave space in your luggage for souvenirs and gifts you find during your exploration of Cape Cod.
Books, Games, and Movies
Although we hope it doesn’t rain in the daylight hours during your stay, we think you will love when the rain falls at night. Adding a moody beauty to the land and seascape, guests find themselves hanging out in front of the fire, watching movies they plucked from the cabinets or shelves in the living room, playing board games with games they also found tucked away throughout each space. And because reading a good book and sipping a hot beverage while the rain falls outside is a luxury they can’t often afford at home, our bookshelves may be loaded with books that you have been “meaning to read” for so long! Our living room and dining rooms are designed with family in mind, and you may even find colorful throws tossed across the back of the furniture, offering another way to stay warm and cozy during your Cape Cod comfortable adventures.
Fully Equipped Kitchens
There is nothing more frustrating than discovering that the kitchens in your vacation rental are lacking some rather important elements, but there will be no frustrations during your Cape Cod stay. Our kitchens provide all the standard elements, updated appliances, dishware, glassware, silverware, and pots and pans and we make sure that if the listing states a maximum of 6 guests, there will be at least six place settings available, ensuring that paper plates will not be necessary (unless you don’t want to do dishes, of course!) But it is the extras we provide that make these kitchens homey, and perhaps one of your favorite places to hang out in during your time in places to stay on Cape Cod, especially when the blender is blending your favorite frothy cocktail.
About Those Clam Rakes and Buckets
Clamming has been a tradition for families on Cape Cod as long as there have been families on Cape Cod, and we have a feeling that when you find your first clam, using the rakes and buckets we provide, it may become your family’s newest tradition. Especially loved by the tiniest travelers, it is the equivalent of jumping in puddles, something that all kiddos are born loving to do. Clamming is best when the tide is lowest, and if your visit happens to coincide with a full moon, all the better. We provide clam rakes and buckets, but a clam gauge will be needed as well due to the size limits placed on clamming; one can be picked up relatively cheaply at the Mighty Fish, an outdoors store that can be found in multiple locations throughout Cape Cod. A shellfish license is also required and can be purchased in a variety of areas, depending on where you are clamming on Cape Cod. After you get your fill of clams, taking them home to prepare for dinner will become the most delicious of memories, and quite honestly, you may never want to purchase clams ever again, this adventure is so much fun and tasty.
