A Little About the Seaside Festival
Held every year close to the mid-October mark, the Yarmouth Seaside Festival is a two-day event filled with food, music, and special activities that will make you feel like a local. Joshua Sears Memorial Field in South Yarmouth is where all this fun will be contained, and as you shop the booths of artisan vendors you can get an early start on your Christmas list, the arts and crafts being sold are sure to make you wish you had more room in your luggage! For those of you into this kind of thing, a 5K road race that follows along the Bass River takes place on Sunday, and for those who are traveling with their kids, the festival offers a plethora of kids activities including crafts, special shows, music, games, and fun rides. On Monday, the YSF Canoe & Kayak Race adds an element of competition to the laid-back event, and the Sand Sculpture contest, open to everyone, announces the winners. Celebrating in the way that only we Cape Codders do, the food will be delicious, the music will be loud, and fireworks and bonfires on the beach will give the festival an all-American flair that will be loved by all! A Short Drive Home
The festival begins at 10 AM each day, and although its official end is 5 PM, the celebration often lingers into the night (hence the fireworks and bonfires), so expect to be tired, sore, and probably a bit chilly when you are finally ready to go home. When you want an authentic Cape Cod dining experience, you have to dine on lobster you have cooked yourself, and although all our kitchens offer pots and pans, a lobster pot is different from the norm.
