Cape Cod Father’s Day Guide

Somewhere along the line, Father’s Day began to be a holiday that, while celebrated, never quite reaches the heights of popularity that its female counterpart does. We love our dads, sure, and we would love to make them feel special, but their tendency to not feel comfortable with emotions and sentiment pushes us away, and we find ourselves resorting to humorous cards, gag ties, and a text on the big day. This year, however, we at Pretty Picky Properties invite you to discover all the ways a Cape Cod Father’s Day can show the first man you ever loved just how much he means to you, and this guide to Cape Cod will give you ideas on what to do when you get here.

Breakfast of Champions

A hearty breakfast for dad is an awesome thing to behold, as he sits at the head of the table with a napkin in his lap and a smile on his face as he tucks into his favorite breakfast, perhaps the Hearty Breakfast at Grumpy’s. Located at 1408 Main Street in East Dennis, Grumpy’s isn’t a fancy place, but dad doesn’t need fancy, and the hearty breakfast offers three eggs, bacon, sausage, and his choice of hash browns, home fries, or beans.

Father’s Day Car Show on Main Street in Hyannis

Your dad’s first love was probably that 1969 Camaro he lovingly rebuilt in the 1990s and still talks about even though he sold it at the beginning of the new millennium. For the car-loving dad, the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce has sponsored a Father’s Day Car Show every year since 1994 (right about the time your dad was working on his Camaro), making it the perfect holiday activity for the entire family. Even if cars aren’t your thing, there is still something wonderful about seeing cars from all decades lined up in the streets, with their shiny and colorful paint jobs and proud owners standing nearby, ready to tell the story of their “baby.” This event is one of the largest car shows on Cape Cod, featuring 350+ cars, and costs nothing to attend.

Angler’s Delight

The best time to fish on Cape Cod runs from the beginning of May to the end of June, making Father’s Day the ideal time for dad to catch his limit, and although you could accompany him if fishing is something you enjoy, you know he will be happiest if he gets to head off into the sunrise, pole in hand, preparing for a day of solitary battles of man vs fish. Chatham Dump, also known as Chatham Inshore Shoal, is perhaps the most popular fishing spot, located just off the coast of Chatham and providing an underwater plateau that attracts a surprisingly large variety of fish, including striped bass, bluefish, and Atlantic cod.

Fore!

Could it really be called Father’s Day in Cape Cod if golf wasn’t involved in some way? The Captain’s Golf Course, located at 1000 Freemans Way in Brewster, offers two public courses, the Port Course and the Starboard Course, with each hole honoring local sea captains that once made their home here on Cape Cod. Dad can finish off his day on the greens with a drink and lunch at Freeman’s Grill.

Meal Fit for a King

Now, although we generally lump all the restaurants together in one paragraph, your dad deserves something better, so this next paragraph will tell the story of a meal fit for a king, available at the Pilot House Restaurant & Lounge and located at 14 Gallo Road in Sandwich. Offering a strong seafood menu, Pilot House also provides land-lubber items such as ribs and steak tips, ensuring that dad won’t leave hungry and every bite he takes will be his favorite!

A Cape Cod Father’s Day Night to Remember

Dads like to party, too, and by party, we mean sip cold beer and listen to live music, and there are a lot of places on Cape Cod that we can promise he will feel right at home, including Woodshed, located at 1993 Main Street in Brewster. Offering live music, cold beer, and a casual and relaxed vibe, the Woodshed isn’t a place you go to if you want complicated cocktails and smooth jazz music, but it is perfect for everyone who loves loud music and maybe some fiddling on a Sunday night, something most dads can’t help but love. (It’s all those 80s hair bands they listened to back in the day!)

Lazy Day at Home?

Maybe dad won’t want to do anything but stay home and savor all the amenities found in our Pretty Picky Properties holiday hideaways. Comfortable, luxurious, and with some offering game rooms, theater rooms, swimming pools, and hot tubs, a day at home may help dad make the best memories. Reserve your favorite escape today!
